Wild Ooak:

Wild oak is a special variety of oak, the classic German furniture wood. Oak is of medium hardness, excellent firmness, and high wear resistance. Knots and vivid colour runs characterise the natural appearance of the wood grain.

Available with an oiled or lacquered finish:

When a surface is finished by oiling, the natural character of the wood is preserved. The oil penetrates the wood deeply, bringing out the beauty and colouring of the wood grain. While the oil finish protects the open-pore surface against environmental influences, this kind of surface requires extra care. Soiling and spilled liquids should be removed immediately in order to avoid avoid a reaction. Do not use aggressive and abrasive cleaning agents. Microfibre cleaning cloths are not suited for oiled surfaces.

By using lacquer as a finish the surface of the wild oak is sealed. Therefore, lacquered surfaces are really low-maintenance. For cleaning, simply wipe with a moist cloth and wipe dry with a clean cloth. Do not use polish or spray since they might damage the lacquer.

General information:

Wood and other natural materials are subject to slight differences in look, touch, quality, dimensional stability and colour. These properties underline the natural character and charm of the products and make them so attractive. These properties cannot be avoided and do not justify a complaint.

Iroko - African hardwood:

Iroko is the trade name of the wood taken from the Milicia excelsa tree. The timber has a golden brown appearance with a yellow-white sapwood. The fibres are often arranged in waves and have a rough structure. The wood is made into valuable, weather-resistant timber products. Iroko is used in Africa in economically significant quantities. It is processed into timber, planed wood, and furniture mostly in Ghana, Ivory Coast, and Cameroon and exported from those countries. The wood is unusually weather-resistant and highly decorative, similar to teak wood; like teak, iroko changes colour in the sunlight.

It is used predominantly for parquet flooring, furniture and garden furniture. Iroko has approximately the weight and hardness of oak.

The iroko wood used in the aluments range of furniture is finished with linseed oil which is mixed with terpentine. This treatment should be re-applied once a year.
